I’ve been in love with the work of Henri Rousseau since I was very small. His jungle painting and sense of humor were the inspiration for this painting and its title.

I started out with a simple painting of a single arrow but then decided to add two more arrows to create a more uplifting atmosphere. I also wanted to create some depth and give the viewer a feeling of some forms coming forward.

This painting had its genesis in earlier times, but viewing Roberto Matta’s later paintings motivated me to revise it to add more forms and lines and thus create more interest.
