




As a youngster in Kobe, Japan, I painted a manmade island being built at the time in Kobe harbor, with an imaginary amusement park on it. The painting was exchanged and transported to a school in India. As a grownup, I recreated it as a satire on our greed-oriented society.

Japan’s Minamata tragedy highlighted the importance of water quality for humans to have a safe birth. So the painting started to have two segments, the river and the woman and man, connected by DNA, with more forms and lines added to complete the drama.
