“No Crossing, It’s Wild Out There” 30″ x 40″ Oil on Canvas. 2025
The mountain background came to me quickly, but rather than paint just a landscape painting, I superimposed colored lines to suggest a fence. I painted the sky in the style of a Japanese woodblock print to create an impression of otherworldliness.

“New Growth After the Pandemic” 20″ x 16″ Oil on Canvas. 2025
Against a background of ground and trees, the addition of a silhouette suggesting the facial figure of a newborn conveys a positive post-pandemic message. The pointillist, minimalist technique was inspired by Klimt’s landscape paintings.

“Cloud Busting” 18″ x 24″ Oil on Canvas. 2025
This painting started as pure abstraction, but then the idea of clouds came to me. I added color bullets fired from below upward toward the clouds. At that point, the title of this whimsical painting came to me.

“Yellow Son and Rising Sun” 24″ x 20″ Oil on Canvas. 2025
In this painting, the idea of the title came first. Then I worked toward that title with abstractions of the yellow son descending from the heavens, the yellow sun rising from the world, and eight spirits floating between them.

“Eye-Ching” 16″ x 20″ Oil & Enamel on Canvas. 2025
The I-Ching is the only thing I still consult from my youthful occult phase. I have used some hexagrams in my paintings before, but in this painting, I used all the hexagrams of the I-Ching, including some suggesting the shape of an eye.

“The Stupa and Variations” 22″ x 28″ Oil on Canvas. 2025
This painting has undergone revisions over several years. The textures result from the changes and have involved scraping, sanding, etc… Those remain to create some mysteries and emotions in the painting.
