I started with some stick figures. As my ideas expanded, I painted the background as an underground river (Styx in Greek) and the musicians’ figures as sticks (a play on Styx). The two owl figures fly, one above the ground and one under the ground at the very bottom, with bass drums as their eyes.
This started as an automatic drawing but became more of a nature painting. I added stick figures, a road-like structure and an arch. The idea of a marriage of nature and science came to me, and I decided to make it a wedding parade. I painted nature as a flower and science as a sphere crossing.
